JUNE – Visit to THOLAR VILLAGE

June Visit to Tholar Village: Vocabulary, Storytelling & Smiles

In June, Aran Foundation volunteers visited Tholar Village for a vibrant, hands-on learning session with the children—and what a joyful, impactful day it turned out to be! One of the main highlights was a creative newspaper activity designed to build vocabulary in a fun, practical way. Children explored real newspaper articles with the help of volunteers, picked out new or unfamiliar words, and learned their meanings and usage in daily life. It was incredible to watch them connect language to real-world situations, build sentences, and grow more confident with every word.

The session also included a special storytelling segment using Vooks, an animated story app that brings books to life. Volunteers guided the children on how to use the subtitle feature, helping them match spoken words with written text—an excellent way to build reading fluency and comprehension. After watching the stories, the children discussed the characters, answered simple questions, and even retold parts of the story in their own words. Alongside these activities, the kids were given stationery kits, participated in a short phonics workshop, and enjoyed fun games and bonding time with the volunteers. The energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity of the children made the visit deeply rewarding. Days like this remind us that learning is most powerful when it’s joyful, interactive, and rooted in real-life experiences.

Beyond the educational activities, the day was filled with smiles, play, and meaningful connection. Children participated in art, games, and group activities alongside the volunteers, building bonds that went beyond the classroom. The joy on the children’s faces and their enthusiastic participation made the visit truly memorable. This effort reflects Aran Foundation’s mission to extend education, care, and compassion to underserved communities—empowering children with the tools they need to grow, thrive, and dream big.
